T-Mobile UK To Launch HTC Hero As G1 Touch

Since the launch of the T-Mobile G1 across the US and UK last year, many mobile phone enthusiasts have been looking forward to see what future handsets HTC launch for the Android platform.

After the HTC G1, we saw the HTC Magic (rebranded as the T-Mobile myTouch 3G in the US). The HTC Magic is basically a G1 but without the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Thanks to the recent Android ‘cupcake’ update the Magic can enjoy a full onscreen keyboard.

Last month however HTC unveiled what will surely be a game changing for the Android platform, the HTC Hero. The Hero marks a new wave of fully touchscreen Android phones. It’s slim, light design is coupled with a far more advanced user interface known as HTC Sense.

The HTC Hero handset will launch across the UK later this month, but as of yet there is no timeframe or release information suggesting a launch in the US. There’s no doubt this will eventually happen, but it is difficult to tell what carrier the handset will eventually arrive on, and also whether it will be known as the G2.
